Autobiographies and self-portraits are alike in ways, but they are also different. An autobiography is a story written of one's own life. It is written by the subject about one's self. A self-portrait is a photo that is taken of yourself. It is a representation of the artist it's self.
They are alike because they are both made to represent and symbolize the creator. The difference is that the autobiography uses words to show a difference; the self-portrait uses them in a picture, sculpture, drawing, etc.
